Who We Are
Jason and Sarah Furrow are the founders of
Give Hope 2 Kids. They are committed to giving
children hope and a brighter future.
From Jason: "People have often asked
me what the motivation for wanting to start
an orphanage is...when I was 14 years old,
I spent two weeks working as part of a short-term
missions project helping with the construction
of a medical clinic at an orphanage in Guatemala.
During those weeks I spent a lot of time with
the children in the orphanage. I began to see
that if there had not been a home for these
children, they would have simply had to live
on the street, or live with abuse or neglect.
I so identified with the opportunity to help
children like this, that wanting to help abandoned
and orphaned children became a major part of
my life's purpose. It is this desire to help
hurting children that is the driving force
behind the mission of Give Hope 2 Kids. I began
to pursue opportunities to volunteer in children's
homes, and beginning in 1995, I spent several
summers working in Latin American orphanages."
Jason continued taking trips to Central and
South America since 1995, feeling a great connection
with the people and culture. He finished his
graduate degree at Bethel Seminary in 2004.
Since then he has put his energy into the foundational
work of the Give Hope 2 Kids and he is excited
to watch as his dreams are now becoming a reality.
Sarah spent several years involved in a ministry
training program called Master’s Commission.
In May of 2006 she graduated with a degree
in Sociocultural Studies from Bethel University.
She thoroughly enjoys the work in Honduras
and looks forward to a future given to helping
kids.
Jason and Sarah Furrow moved to Honduras in
July 0f 2006. For the first year and a half
they taught classes at Instituto el Rey, while
preparing to open Casa de Esperanza. Now in
2008 they are launching Casa de Esperanza.
