Education & Outreach
Education Changes Lives! In our years in Honduras, we've seen first hand how much education makes a difference in young lives here. If a young person is a motivated learner who chooses to advance in their education, they can leave behind the life of a subsistence farmer who barely scrapes by. Through education they can have an open door of possibilities.
Our kids are getting an excellent Honduran education. We are homeschooling our K-6th grade students, which enables us to work with each child at their individual level. Our 7th-12th grade students are studying at Instituto El Rey. |
The Trade SchoolOur newest outreach program is our Trade School. With this new facet of our ministry we aim to give our kids the skills they need to be successful, independent adults. We will teach them not only basic trade skills, but also entrepreneurship and small business management. As we grow this program, we plan to open our courses to the young people of our community as well.
We’re so excited to see how this ministry facet evolves and creates new avenues for success in our kids’ lives! |
Friday Night Youth GroupIn November of 2011, we started our Friday Night Youth Group. Now, every Friday evening, we welcome 80-100 young people onto our property. Our goal is to show them God's love and purpose for their lives, in a way that's real and relevant. We're already seeing this ministry make a difference in our area. Not only has our Youth Group grown, but many of these young people are now passionately seeking to be discipled, to lead youth ministries in their home churches, and to serve in their communities. |
Community ClassesIn 2009, we launched our first community outreach programs. We opened Lee's Library to our community and started teaching English classes in our village school. A couple of years later we added computer classes for the village students.
English and computer skills have so much value in this culture. They create opportunities that most of our village kids otherwise would not have, and help break the cycles of poverty. We hope to spark young minds with enthusiasm for learning and broaden their horizons for the future! |
What's Next?- Expanding our Trade School courses. - Offering internships in tropical agriculture. - Growing our Youth Group. - Starting more discipleship groups. - Serving our community through monthly service projects. |
