Our History

In 2006 GH2K:
- Jason & Sarah Furrow moved to Honduras in July. - Taught about 180 students at Instituto El Rey in various subjects: English, Science, Art, Piano, and P.E. - Visited several Children’s Homes in Honduras to gain wisdom from their directors. - Developed our vision for the future of our Family-Centered Community. |
In 2007 GH2K:
- Taught about 180 students at Instituto El Rey in various subjects: English, Science, Art, Piano, and P.E. - Jason & Sarah Furrow applied for Honduran residency. - Purchased our first ministry vehicle to help us search for a property. - After several months of looking for property, we decided to locate in the same river valley where we were teaching. That way we could be near our friends' ministries, which could provide medical care and education to our Family-Centered Community. - Found our property of over 100 acres, negotiated to buy it, raised the funds, and then purchased it on December 5th. |

In 2008 GH2K:
- On March 5th we started construction. - Constructed the first two homes for kids, a storage shed to house tools and the generator, and an “office” which has served as a storage unit, Lee's Library, and a classroom. - Purchased a truck for construction and moving people. - Built a 2,500 ft gravity fed water system and purification system to provide our property with clean water. - Installed a transformer and brought electricity to the land. - Built a section of fence along the road. - Planted over 3,000 trees for the future provision of the GH2K. |

In 2009 GH2K:
- Jason & Sarah received their Honduran residency. - GH2K applied to become a Honduran non-profit organization. - Built the 3rd house for kids. - Taught English classes to about 80 1st-6th graders at our local elementary school. - In September of 2009 we opened Lee's Library to the community. - Planted our first large-scale garden and hundreds more trees while developing our agricultural techniques. - Added a road to the houses, extended our fence, and excavated the next three building sites. |
In 2010 GH2K:
- Built a playground and the Activity Center. - Taught English classes to about 80 1st-6th graders at our local elementary school. - Put new roofs on two buildings at our village elementary school. - Received certification for our mahogany plantations. - Assisted Instituto El Rey in building a wall around its property. - Officially became a Honduran non-profit organization. - Applied with Honduran Social Services to open our Family-Centered Community. - Planted an avocado orchard. - Purchased our first milk cows. |

2011
- Taught English classes, computer classes, and music classes in our Library Program. - Finished a home for groups and volunteers and the Furrow's house. - Hired our first house-parents, Will & Sinndya, in May. - Received approval to take in children from Honduran Social Services and then brought in our first 4 children in June. - Of the first kids, two were adopted into a family from La Ceiba & the other two were re-united with their family. - Purchased first laying hens and cows for meat and milk. - Increased our coffee production by 25%. - Started our Friday Night Youth Group. |

In 2012 GH2K:
- Took in 5 children in January. - Harvested our first avocadoes and the first calves were born from our milk cows. - Built an office and added an apartment onto our group house. - Ruby and her sisters were re-united with their mother after 5 years and they moved back with her. - Hired more house-parents and then took in 5 more children in April. - Taught English classes in our local school and continued offering our Library Program. |
In 2013 GH2K:
- Took in 6 more children, who were later adopted, and then eventually took in another sibling group of 4. - Built a duplex as a second home for volunteers. - Developed our outreach classes into an Afterschool Program. - Saw attendance at our Youth Group grow dramatically. - Started raising pigs for meat. - Bought more laying hens. |

In 2014 GH2K:
- Built an outdoor classroom. - Constructed a bridge across the river on our property. - Started homeschooling four of our kids to prepare them for graduation. - Built a community kitchen. - Purchased our new solar panels. - Experimented with growing tilapia. |
In 2015 GH2K:
-Transitioned completely to homeschooling our elementary students and saw incredible growth in them. - Brought our solar panels down to Honduras and set ourselves up to run on solar power. - Built our Trade School and had our first class unit. - Re-dug our well to provide water for the whole property. - Temporarily cared for a young girl in an emergency situation. In 2016 GH2K:
- Took in 10 new children into our homes. - Built a road to the other side of the property for our agricultural projects. - Expanded our project with pigs and built them a new enclosure. - Started praying about opening up a second campus and looking for properties. - Installed a new computer lab in our main classroom. uIn 2018 GH2K:
- Took in our first teen mom and siblings. Had our first baby born into the ministry. - Broke ground on transition home on the Roma property. - The Furrows purchased their first family home aside from ministry. - Hired new staff. - Completed our fourth kids home in Urraco. |
In 2017 GH2K:
- Purchased the property for our second location in the town of Roma. - Built cabin on new property In 2019 GH2K:
- Ran power to our second campus. - Completed transition house. - Built new playground on our Urraco campus. - Yanessa completed her last chemo treatment May 27th. |
