The Roma Campus: |
We BELIEVE in the family-centered model we're using. Putting once abandoned or abused kids in wonderful, godly families is the way to bring them to healing -- we're watching it happen firsthand. We believe in this model so much that we feel it's time to duplicate our work in another location. So, we're expanding; we're doubling our work with a 2nd campus in Roma, Honduras, closer to La Ceiba. This means 4-5 more family homes to care for kids, plus the focus on education and community, plus self-sustainability -- all in a second location.
Along with our family-centered homes for children, this 2nd campus will be a launching pad for our young adults. We believe that the greatest measure of our success will be how our young people live after they've left our homes. Will they raise a healthy family and break the cycle of neglect and abuse they experienced? Our goal is for there to be resounding YES! to that question, thus how we launch these young people is crucial. As they head towards independence, they need opportunities to study, learn trades, and enter the workforce. While our Urraco Campus is an amazing environment for safely raising kids, it's 25-miles-of-dirt-road away from higher education and jobs. Our Roma Campus will have a transition home for our young adults. There they'll continue to have a safe, family environment, with easy access to the jobs and education they need to gain independence.
Our kids are growing up so fast, so we are excited to be preparing for their futures with this next phase. And starting a new campus to care for more kids: what a privilege!
