Back at Home!!!

We’ve returned to Honduras after our six weeks in the US and we’re getting back down to business.  

Thanks to Nick and Hilary, who stayed and looked after things, construction work continued while we were away.  Great progress was made on the 2nd house for kids and it now has smooth surfaces on all the walls.  We’re ready to pour the floors in now and have it finished in the next few weeks.  Once this house is finished we will have the space to be able to take in kids — now if only the legal process could be finished! 

Our workers added a bathroom onto the back of David’s house.  He and his bride Olga will be moving into the house this weekend and we are so excited for them. 

We’re currently putting chain link up on the fence across the front of the property.  We’re so excited to have it all closed off so there aren’t any more horses wandering through our yard, eating our vegetable garden and leaving ticks behind for us.

The final housing upgrade was for our pet Kinkajou, who’s named Paco (there’s a picture of him a few months back).  This will give him a lot more room for his nightly flip routine .

We are now in the middle of rainy season here in Honduras.  It’s been a rainier year than usual.  Most days it’s been raining or drizzling constantly, all day, all night.  Right now I’m looking at the first patches of blue sky I’ve seen in days.  The temperature is definitely nicer this time of year though — we actually wear long-sleeves once in awhile!  The lowest the thermometer drops though is like 60F.  The problems with rainy season are lots of mud and the fact that it’s nearly impossible to get your clothes to dry.  Even with that, it’s nice to have a change from hot.
