The big news for us is that we have the transformer up on the post for electricity. The lights aren’t on quite yet, but they’re coming. We just need to get our meter set up and get an account with the government.
Things have been going really well with the construction. We are ready to put a roof on the first house and on a storage shed we’ve built. Hopefully this will happen next week — I’ll definitely put photos up. Another project we’re working on is getting a good water system in place. Our water is from a mountain spring way up at the top of the property, but the current system bringing it down isn’t very reliable. The pvc pipes aren’t really good quality and they’re a little old, so about every other day we have a problem with sand or grass in the pipes and the water running really slow. We’re also planning and planting agricultural projects. We have a garden going, 2000 mahogany seedlings ready to plant, plus other fruit trees. Tomorrow (Friday) we have a group coming down from North Carolina. Part of our work with them will be putting a road through the first part of the property. This will make a huge difference as we start building the next homes. No longer will all the sand need to be moved by wheelbarrow and the cement blocks by hand. As you can see, there has been more going on than just work on the house! Basically we’re getting together our property infrastructure. Well, mostly Jason has been doing this while I (Sarah) taught classes at school for two weeks and tried to tackle some huge administrative projects (I’m almost done with a big sigh of relief). Things are going well and we really appreciate your thoughts and prayers to keep it headed that direction. Thanks.
