Alright, this will serve as our first actual post. I’ve just finished talking to Shawn Maust who helps us with our web design, and he has set up the blog that you’re viewing right now. Shawn, if your reading this…thanks for all of your help. I’m not sure if you’ve ever tried to slug your way through a technical issue and been on the verge of losing it. If that’s ever been you, people like Shawn will save your life. He does great work, and is immensely patient. Thanks friend.
I would imagine that if you’re looking through the Give Hope 2 Kids website, that you’re vaguely familiar with us and what we’re trying to do. My name is Jason Furrow, and I’m the founder of Give Hope 2 Kids. All of this began in the Spring of 1990 when I visited an orphanage outside of Guatemala City on a short-term visit to help build a medical clinic. Since that time, I’ve been visiting orphanages in Latin-America and dreaming for the day when I could help in the same way that I saw others like Mike and Dottie Clark helping in Guatemala. I finished my undergrad degree at North Central University in 2000, and finished my master’s in theology and cross-cultural ministry from Bethel Seminary in 2004. At the end of my time there I was priviledged to meet Sarah McCready a young woman who began attending Bethel the semester after I graduated. We hit it off immediately and will be married in just a few weeks on June the 8th. We will leave immediately for our honeymoon and will return to the States for less than two weeks, and then it’s off to Honduras. I hope in the following posts, you’ll be able to hear from both of us and see how our dream of working as teachers, and eventually having our own home for children is fulfilled. Jason
